Programming

At the Young Israel of Oak Park, our goal is to be a shul for every individual. For that reason, we have a wide-ranging, comprehensive youth program full of weekly, monthly, and seasonal activities for every age.

Our Shabbat programming includes:

~ Babysitting from the beginning of main minyan (9:00 am on most weeks)

~ Boys & Girls group from Kindergarten through 2nd grade- davening songs and activties

~ 3rd through 5th grade boys davening and games

~ 3rd through 5th grade girls davening and Parsha-activties

Code of Conduct

Behavioral Expectations:

  • Be respectful: We are respectful of ourselves and other people. We are respectful of the building, ideas, and feelings of others. We are respectful of the environment, equipment and materials.
  • Be safe: We work and play safely to keep ourselves and others from getting hurt.
  • Be cooperative: We solve our problems by talking and listening respectfully. When we cannot solve a problem ourselves we ask for help.
  • Follow instructions given by the caregivers
  • Play gently and avoid roughhousing.
  • Clean Up: We clean up all of the toys that we use and the snacks that we eat.

Parental Expectations:

  • Parents are to remain in the building at all times.
  • Parents are responsible for knowing where their children are at all times.
  • Children should never be unsupervised.
  • Parents should collect their children promptly after services or youth group activities.
  • Parents are financially responsible for any damages caused by their children to synagogue property or other congregants' belongings.
  • Registration: Please complete the intake form annually if utilizing babysitting in the Flatt Infant-Child Room.
  • Cleanliness: All dirty diapers must be disposed of in the restroom. Regular handwashing is encouraged.
  • Illness Policy: Children who exhibit signs of illness will not be admitted to the group.
  • Help us maintain a clean and safe environment for everyone by cleaning up after their little ones. This includes highchairs, play equipment, and any spills.
  • Parents are expected to familiarize themselves with the YIOP Youth Safety Policy and comply with it.

Following these expectations will help ensure everyone has a fun and enjoyable time at YIOP’s Youth Groups! By entrusting your child to our care, you agree to abide by the Young Israel of Oak Park Youth Group Code of Conduct.Your presence on the premises indicates your understanding and acceptance of these guidelines.
